On my design wall today are some bow tie blocks in the layout that I am using for my brother's quilt
Today I bought a few more reds and some surprise fabrics for the bow ties. I will be mixing in new scraps for the double four patch blocks so that is why they are not yet complete. Doesn't look like much yet, does it! The trip to my not-so-local quilt shop 25 miles away was just lovely. I had the sunroof open and was enjoying the warm summer air as I drove through the backroads and farmland. It helped that I was driving Grant's car, which has better seats and way better suspension than my poor 17 year old car (which had to be towed to the auto shop for a new ignition switch). The Cotton and Chocolate Quilt Shop was pre-selling entry tickets to the International Quilt Festival and that was my main reason for going there.

I just just the route you took...it's lovely and peaceful! I'm going to get my tickets today, if they have any left. I'm taking a friend who is not a quilter, but loves Long Beach, plus it's her birthday weekend. We do it every year and it's so much fun. Maybe we'll see you there!
that is going be very cute. I like it very much, nice job.
nice job.

I am anxious to see the rest of this setting as I have a lot of bow tie blocks from an online swap. I never even thought of adding another block to them . . .
It's taking shape and looking good!
Looking forward to seeing how this bowtie quilt will progress. I made a couple quilts years ago with only bowties in a one-direction layout, which was so boring. I like your addition of the 4-patch blocks and the solid squares.
Sounds like you had a great drive.
I love to drive. I love to go to quilt shows...
Maybe I should drive over to your place and we could go to the quilt show together?
love the bowties and 4 patches!!! a 17 year old car wow!!!!
Have fun at the quilt show I am off to the Hershey Show tomorrow, really looking forward to it.

i think our Honda may be right around that age . . . still runs well but makes some strange noises sometimes. it's actually my daughter's car now but we are babysitting it while she's in Honduras.
enjoy the upcoming show and congrats on your recent wins~!
i'm very interested in seeing your bow tie quilt evolve . . . really like the chain effect being created by those double four patch blocks.
reminds me that i have a bunch of bow tie blocks (i won in a guild raffle) that i have yet to do anything with . . .
