Last of the astounding quilts I got pics of at the 2010 International Quilt Festival in Long Beach. Many, many more I simply admired and adored, especially the antiques! All quilt photos that follow were taken at the Festival.
This approximately twin sized quilt was amazing in its Celtic applique.
I couldn't stop taking pictures of star quilts! The red and green caught my eye of course.
Another red and green antique was charming in its slightly off balance arrangement.
Funny birds and decidedly not perfect berries--so quirky!
This cheddar quilt was all perfection and symmetry, in contrast!
Stunning applique and quilting everywhere.
This iris was done by the same quilter as the Dahlia in my previous post. It was a huge flower and startling in its accuracy. I do not know how the shading was done so magnificently!
Closeup of the quilting that followed the probably hand-painted background fabric. Loved it!
Finally, this large quilt was made of African fabric, I believe only two different prints. Look how skillfully the quilter manipulated the motifs and made amazing use of the colors.
I did not realize this was a bird until I zoomed in for a closeup!
And now for my little giveaway. There is something wrought, something bought, something to make and a mystery item or two that I won't reveal here.
I was happy to use the Moda Boutique charm pack given by Kim to make this pinwheel quiltlet with yo-yo center. The dot is Love U by Deb Strain for Moda. The pineapples pattern is a symbol of welcome and the yo-yo maker a fun tool for embellishment.
I had a lot of fun making this! It is quilted with rayon thread for a bit of shine. To enter my giveaway, leave a comment on this post and tell me what your favorite color is and why. My favorite color is green and I love it because it is at once lively and soothing because of its connection to nature. There is only one shade of green I dislike--pastel mint!
The giveaway is open until Friday, August 6th. I will select a winner at approximately 6 pm Pacific time. Please make sure there is a way for me to get in touch with you either by your profile or leaving your email in the comment. My favorite color used to be blue: cool, color of sky & heaven...pure waters, saphires and more. But now I think green is my favorite color. Green is the green that God made to compliment all the fantastic colors of flowers! There is a green that makes every other color sing. Sharp new green of Spring trees, dusty sage green, forest green of my beloved redwood trees. Green....it's my favourite color.
My favorite color is red, I love it because it is warm and happy; red adds zing and makes me smile. I love every tint and shade of red from pale pink to deep maroon. Thanks for the show and tell and congrats on 200 posts~ here's to the next 200!
I love pinks! Although as I go on as a quilter, I really enjoy all colors so very much. Congratulations on your milestone! Thanks for the quilt show lately, it has been great fun.
I love blue, it is so peaceful and hopeful. My favorite shade of blue is when I am watching the sunset and there is a section of sky that is a bright blue with the pink clouds in the foreground.
I've been quilting a lot in royal blue and golden yellow, funny that these were my high school colors. so when colors seem to keep revisiting you does that make them your favorite?
Oh Annie. I really do love the star quilts too. So beautiful.
My favorite color is green too. It reminds me of nature. I like all shades lime to teal. Your little quilt is great and I love yo yo's!!
Favorite colors used to be blue and now it seems to be greens like olive green or even barn red...I can't decide! I have a few that really melt me. If I ever get that someday grandaughter it will be PINK! Hee!!
I really don't have a favorite colour, I love one or another depending on my mood. Awesome giveaway - love that wee quilt, it is soooo sweet.
My favorite colors are many: periwinkle blue, dove grey, chocolate brown, lemony yellow, dusky rose, and leafy green. I can't say why each of those colors is a favorite, though they all remind me of being in a meadow or a forest. But I can say that one of my nicknames that my husband gave me (when we were still just dating & only he calls me this) is Periwinkle because it seemed to him that I wore that color practically every day!
That is a very sweet little quiltlet you made. Thank you for the opportunity to win such a wonderful and generous contest.

The Celtic applique beauty is by Zena Thorpe. Isn't it magnificent. I've seen it at IQF in Houston and in mags, but it is fabulous event still. Thanks for sharing.
My favorite color is pink. Always has been. I like most all shades of pink. My favorite combo with pink is brown then black. Pink makes me fill like a girl and happy! Very nice little quilt!!:o)
I hate to admit but since I first saw Donny Osmond in his purple socks when I was a little girl....purple has been my favorite color!
well my favorite color is hmm thats hard
its between RED love red, love yellow (a bit of cheddar goes a long way in a quilt) and Green! I have green in every room of our house
I find it a relaxing color ...
what does that tell you?
I love red/green and cheddar antique quilts...

i'm really enjoying the quilt show pics that you've been sharing and think that my favorites are the older and more traditional looking ones. the quirky birds and berries and the four block cheddar quilt are wonderful . . . amazing quilting on that cheddar piece~!!~
congratulations on your 200th post and i'm looking forward to the next 200~!
the little pinwheel give-away quilt is so very cute but asking me to pick a favorite color is like asking a five year old to pick out a favorite candy while in a candy shop . . . i just can't do it~!

My favorite color is red, because it energizes me (at least mentally!) Last week end I bought about 10 different red fat quarters that I will use in a couple of my projects. Happy Day!
I didn't think I had a favourite colour.....but then I realised it was red! Red is a bright and happy colour and it just makes me feel good.....and red/white quilts inspire me!
My favorite color is RED - I love RED. It makes a strong statement no matter where and how it's used.
It's been fun to visit the quilt show with you - thank you for sharing.
Great give away! My favorite color is red. I just changed my sewing room around and added all touches of red. It realy adds a bright spot any where.
Thanks for the chance,
~Karen~
My favorite color is blue. I find it to be very calming and close to nature. Thanks for having such a great giveaway.
Annie,
My favorite color is pink -it makes me think of strawberry ice cream. I love the calmness I feel in a pink room. I love most colors except for orange though I even like it in fall quilts. What a fun giveaway and congratulations for reaching 200 posts.
Warmest regards.
Anna
