This is Judy's Mystery Quilt pattern from summer 2010 (click name for her free pattern). It was on my UFO list last year but only made it from blocks to flimsy stage. I have two borders to cut and add and already purchased backing fabric in 2010. Grant asked, as usual, "Who is this for?" and was pleased that I said "Us!" as he told me he likes the colors a lot. I do too. After that I vacuumed the carpet and started laying out the Bricks & Stepping Stones blocks for my brother's quilt.
The quilt inspector waited until three rows were laid out before she plopped herself down.
I literally had to push Mini off the blocks in order to take more pics and play Switcheroo.
A few blocks changed position after this photo but I had to stop somewhere. They are now stacked up and ready to stitch into rows. I've been trimming more leftover HSTs to use as leader-enders so will get a lot of those done as I sew these 56 blocks together, which I am off to do forthwith!

Good job on your first finish of 2012. My hubby asks the same question when i finish a quilt! lol
I really like your new project. What size are those recs? I have cut all my scraps and have lots of recs. it looks great!
Both quilts are terrific. I really like the pinwheel star blocks in the first quilt. Don't hubbies make great quilt holders?
Doesn't make you happy that one you are keeping is one he wants to keep, too? It is a nice pattern, thank you for the link. Love the quilt inspector, just doing her job, lol I think your brother is going to like his Bricks and Stepping Stones ~
:-}pokey
The mystery quilt is very pretty, I can see why you are keeping it. And your brother's quilt is looking great too, I really like teals and browns together.
The quilt inspector was a bit slow, lol.
Your UFO #1 quilt is fantastic.
Thanks for the link to Judy's Mystery quilt. Love your quilt, especially the blocks with lighter HSTs where the grids are more prominent than the stars.
Both projects look great. Tell DH Grant, the quilt holder, that he did a wonderful job, showing the quilt to perfection. Hopefully he'll be available the next time you need him. The Bricks and Stepping Stones is stunning. Great colors.
Both look wonderful! What a conscientious quilt inspector! LOL Have a happy day!
I like them both but the colours in the second one are really taking my fancy !
Love both those quilts! You have a great eye for color combinations. I have done Bricks and Stepping Stones in several color variations and it is a great stash-buster. My cat Tigger also likes to participate in the laying out and switching blocks around part of the design process. He's ever so helpful :D
Like both your quilts. Isn't it nice when your guy is happy that you've made a quilt to keep?
I just love your mystery quilt, Annie! Perfect colors! Grant makes the perfect quilt holder, too! Looks like you have the perfect arrangement for your brother's quilt, too! Now to keep Miss Mini from picking them up and carrying them off - lol!
Cheers!
