Another Fair Day

Grant and I went to the fair last night on the graciousness of our neighbor, who handed us free admission tickets and VIP seating passes to the concert show of the evening, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.  Not being too familiar with this band, a homegrown favorite, we gave our VIP passes to some friends we bumped into just as the concert started.  We ate typical Fair food like corn dogs, teriyaki beef and chicken from the Buddhist temple booth, fresh cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting, and Indian Fry bread with powdered sugar.  Mmm, mmm, good!  We did a lot of walking and people watching, running into a few friends and acquaintances, and even some in laws--our son in law's brother and his wife.

The fairgrounds were just improved by a newly built, very large and beautiful covered livestock pavilion. We took a turn through to see what all the 4-H clubs in our area were up to--there were lambs and sheep and pigs and heifers.  Pigs were being shown for judging that night, so kids were dressed up in freshly pressed white shirts and their blue jeans.  These two, however, were definitely not ready for the ring:

Kim and Khloe Pigdashian.  I'm pretty sure it's Kim who has her butt in the food dish.

Grant agreed to photograph me by my quilts, as a proud winner. Thanks, honey!

He wanted me to point to the Micro Mini quilt.  It needs a new name, don't you think?  The fair ends Sunday and I'll pick up my quilts and ribbons on Monday.  That will end the Fair fun, but not the memories!

Funny, Pigdashian. I LOVE Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. I have a couple of their earlier CDs. Mr. Creations once tried the popular Deep Fried Twinkie. Ick. Soon your award winning quilts will be home again.

Congrats again on your ribbons! Grant did a good job with the photography! Love the pigs. My favorite fair food are the cinnamon rolls. I eat one there and take a couple home for later! I am thinking of entering a quilt in the state fair here in VA. Perhaps, I should finish one first!
