- Life has been very busy since my one-and-only sister moved back to town--in a good way. I told Kathy one day when she called and wasn't sure she was going to come over that she had to; she moved away 30 years ago and now that she's in town, I want to see her EVERY day.
- On Saturday we went to Kathy's storage unit to paw through her batik fabrics--of which she had many--and were successful in finding a backing for the wedding quilt! She also brought back to my house a box of UFOs she had packaged up. It will be sew nice to work through our piles of projects together.
- Unfortunately the backing piece was not wide enough and just a smidgen short. That meant a trip to the local fabric store. I took the quilt top and got several people's compliments. One lady petted the folded top on the cutting table, which made me smile.
- The new fabric will frame the center section. That meant a bunch of MATH had to be done. And double-checked. And re-calculated. Sigh.
- Have I mentioned there is a new Quilt Quality Control Agent in the household?
DD Erica sent this photo of her cat Lucy to me, along with a text message, "Hi. I'm just helping." It appears the quilt top passed inspection!

It's wonderful that you and your sister are near each other again and that both of you love quilting! It's a double bonus!
How fun to share this with your sister. Both of my sisters live within 10 miles of me, but neither one is a quilter. Luckily Mom is!
Looks like the new quilt inspector is on the job!!
Quilting sisters... double the fun! I envy your proximity, a close sister is a true blessing. Love the QA cat!!
Love Lucy doing a cat scan...
So happy you and your sister are making up for lost time!
Happy you two can be close (distance) sisters. It will be fun to stitch thru those UFO's.
Always appreciate a cat inspector, especially a beautiful one!!!
A sewing buddy (sister) is great to have - especially if they have more UFOs that you do.
Be careful, those quilt inspectors can be pretty catty.
Quilting with your sister will be something to look forward to so often. I'm envious!
I'm curious -- are your tastes similar, as far as favorite fabrics and favorite types of projects? Any overlap? Or do you and your sister do totally different work?
Quilting inspectors are working hard at my house too!
I envy you having a sister...
Very cute inspector.
It's great that you've been able to sew with your sister. My sister and I have hit the quilt shows together, but have never had the chance to sit and sew together.
How lovely you can be with your sister again regularly. I hope she drops in daily!
