Along with the pieced bars, Judy cleverly turned them into stars (hey--I just rapped!) and I am loving them in all the different fabrics.
Next week we'll get the layout for the top. I'm hoping the chains will intersect in a beautiful way around these pinwheel stars! On other fronts, the Strawberry Fields quiltalong project is a completed top, which I am calling Patriotic Fields. I would have liked to have this done for the Independence Day holiday, but with my plan to hand quilt it, I'm not seeing a finish in the next four days!
This watermelon-y fabric was a gift some time ago from my newly married friend Tanya, with whom I'm having dinner Thursday night. I might bring the top to show her. Although not entirely in keeping with the vintage idea of the little quilt, it was the right color and was on hand!

Dear Gangsta Annie (well you DID rap)
I liked the roses in the corner. They arent as noticeable now the borders are on. Didnt you like them?
I'm avoiding a pinwheel quilt at the moment ...it's too easy to muck it up....Yours looks fabulous as usual.
Your blocks look great! I can't wait to get in my sewing room and get to work on mine!
I did not see the difference until you pointed it out -the roses, I mean, but I love subtle differences like that! Your mystery block is looking good. This is a pretty "Patriotic Fields". I'm going to be working on a red, w/b one too, for a charity quilt-if I can unbury that box! It is in here somewhere....
Using what you have on hand is totally vintage! :) I am absolutely in love with "Patriotic Fields" my friend. I'm also doing cartwheels on this block you're doing with the quiltalong. How freakin' fun is that? Wow! Zap!
The mystery quilt is starting to look very interesting - I like your color choices. The Patriotic Field quilt looks totally different with the borders on - the roses blend right in. I really want to make this quilt, can I drool over yours until I get around to it? hehe ;o)
Oh, pretty! The colors you chose are perfect. I love mysteries, don't you? Your gorgeous Strawberry fields is wonderful!
The border does take attention away from the corners, but I like them. You're teasing us with just the section photo. It all looks great together.
Mystery quilts are so much fun. I'm enjoying watching your progress.
Enjoy the 4th. I'm gonna quilt or else!
Fantastic finish on the Patriotic Fields, I love those corner roses... subtle and effective at the same time. I'm in love with that mystery block, it's a striking addition! Well done, you!
it is interesting to see the corner roses shift a bit into the background. it's still quite beautiful and i love that one has to really study the quilt to see this subtle design element. a smiley surprise~!
i've just now started getting some hand quilting into mine . . . slow but sure . . . said the turtle to the hare . . .
