Giveaways and Birthdays

The giveaway is now closed.  Thanks for playing!

I am far remiss in posting about a giveaway I won a couple of  weeks ago from Jo's Country Junction.  Check out the adorable headbands she made with wool and her GO Cutter.  I entered by saying I liked the mum one best and she sent me these:
Parts to three different headbands!  A belated thank you to Jo for her generosity.  I look forward to spending some crafty time playing with these lovelies.

And now for another small giveaway.  It's my birthday, but one of you will be getting a present!  In the picture below are tree ornaments with a little holly leaf cross-stitched name, some Christmas fabric, a bit of lace, and some satin cord.

These were made for co-workers and my doctor boss (his initials) for the office Christmas tree.  Over the years I made a couple dozen as staff changes occurred.  My rule was that you had to work at the office at least a full year before you got a stocking. I wish employees who left had taken their stockings with them--I have a stack of stockings with no home!

This Santa print is my absolute favorite and is vintage fabric I got from a neighbor long ago--as in more than 25 years ago. Sadly I am down to mere scraps, not enough to even craft a stocking, I'm afraid.

So here are the details:  I'll make the winner a stocking with their own name, plus another with the name of their choice.  It can be any name--that of a relative, friend, pet, boss, etc.   I'll pick the fabrics, 'cause that's easier. I have lots of Christmas fabrics to choose from :).

To enter my birthday giveaway, tell me about your favorite Christmas ornament, either made or bought.  That's it, no hoops to jump through, and I will ship internationally.  I'll close the giveaway on Thursday, November 18th at 5 PM Pacific and pick a winner that evening.  Make sure I have a way to contact you either in your profile or by leaving your email address in your comment.  My goal would be to have these ready to send off by December 1st.

Happy Birthday!

My favorite ornament is a little angel kneeling in prayer. She looks vintage, but isn't. I keep her out all year long as my little guardian angel.

There are so many ornaments to choose from that it's hard to choose favorite. I think I can name two both homemade by different family members. One is a set of canvas snow flakes with our families pictures in them, my grandma made them for us. Two are these clay ones my mom made about us two girls. They are very dear to me.

Happy Birthday Annie. I hope your day is fabulous whenever it is.

My favourite ornament is a little gold and cream crocheted primitive angel that a friend gave me about 10 years ago. She just makes me happy everytime I drag her out of the box. It's like saying hello to an old friend.

Enjoy your week.

Happy Birthday - apparently we share the same birthday. My favorite ornament is a pink yarn octopus that my daughter (42) made in kindergarten. It only has four legs but I love to put it on the tree each year.

My favorite ornament or should I say ornaments are two that were made by my sons when they were in elementary school. Since my sons are in their 30s, the ornaments are getting frazzled but I still hang them every year.

Happy Birthday! How generous of you to give away gifts for your own birthday!
My favorite family ornament is the angel that is on the top of my parents tree. She is 50 years old, and tacky as anything, but my parents just go mushy over her since she brings back such warm fuzzy memories for them. We do lots of crazy things with that angel, like giving her a seat at the dinner table, and putting little notes in her hands saying funny things, etc.

Happy Birthday to you, Annie. I hope you enjoy (or enjoyed) your special day with relaxation or great excitement--your preference. I'm not entering your generous giveaway--I'm just stopping by to send my greetings.

My favorite tree ornament is also the angel at the top of our tree. I loved the angel I grew up with. I gently took it out of its box every season, touching the "angel hair," the iridescent glitter, the bristly "halo" that framed it. When buying ornaments for our first tree as a married couple, I found an identical angel in a bin of clearance ornaments in a store. Someone else's trash was truly my treasure.

Annie,
It is soon my birthday too- November 22. I love Christmas ornaments but I think one of my favorites is a one that goes back to when my husband and I were first together that says "Peace". We hang it on the tree every year for the past 30 years.
Hope you have a fabulous birthday- May your year be filled with many wonderful times spent with your loved ones, laughing and loving one another.
Warmest regards,
Anna

Happy Birthday!

My favorite Christmas ornament is a small glass horn. Back when my son was ten years old he bought it on a class trip to Willismsburg VA and held it in his hand for safe-keeping all the long bus ride home so that it wouldn't get broken in his bag. I still recall the sweet look on his face as he climbed down off that bus and carefully presented his gift to me.

Happy Birthday Annie! My favorite ornament is an antique open cockpit airplane with a man and woman in vintage clothes riding in it. My husband and I are both pilots and while I have many airplane ornaments this one is special.

Well as usual, I'm wandering in late, but here's wishing you the happiest of post-birthdays! I love your idea of the stockings for co-workers and would love to have one on my tree *VBS*
My favorite ornament, at the moment, is an M & M(topper) that was past of a candycane filled with them. Is is from my Dad's last Christmas in 1989. One of my kids had given him the candy, which he dearly loved) and he jokingly pulled the topper out of the top, and hung it on our tree. He died 6 weeks later of bone cancer. The clunky little M&M guy has hung on my tree ever since, along with many other good memories of Christmas Past. Hugs, Finn XXX

Happy birthday! I don't know how I missed this! Cute, cute stockings! My favorite ornaments are the kids first Christmas ones. And as they were growing up we got them a special ornament each year. One of these years they will get the box of 'their' ornaments for their own tree~ the time has sure flown for that! Have a happy day!

Since I have collected Christmas ornaments all my married life, I have no way to choose a favorite. Every year, when I pull them out to put them on the tree, I ooh and ahh about them all over again.
