Design Wall Monday--Aug 15, 2011

Over the weekend I completed the Scrappy Trails quilt for my co-worker.  I had a little hand stitching to do where I missed the edge when machine sewing down the binding and took the quilt upstairs so I could sit on the bed and relax while working.  I stepped out of the room for a minute and then this happened:

Mini does always prefer a handmade quilt under her at all times.  I was tired anyway since it was 10 PM!

Next up, turning this pile of fabric into some gift bags.

Here's my mockup from some scraps.  I decided that using a double folded piece of fabric a la binding would make a nice finished edge for casing for the ribbon closure.  I turned under the ends to make feeding the ribbon in that much easier.  See more Design Walls on Judy's Patchwork Times

How about a gift bag tutorial Annie?

What is it with cats and quilts? Mordecai needs to roll over every single quilt I make. I used to think that was very cute until I realised he was probably marking his territory!

Kitty approval is a very important part of the quilt process....Good Job Mini!

My Mini is Bobo! He can be out in the backyard and somehow hear me when I get in my sewing room. I have a special quilt just for him, on my cutting table and he knows that after a good pet and scratch, he's to sit on that quilt--NOT on the quilt I'm quilting!!

That Mini is one smart (and comfortable, thank you very much) kitty! Too cute...

cute little bags! The quilt looks good too, the cat seems to have claimed it in a blink of an eye.

Mini seems to be a very discerning kitty (cute too).

Fun bag! Are these for the wedding or just because?

My dog has appropriated a small flannel quilt as her own and the cat has chosed a large flannel. I thought I had put them away for the summer but somehow they have wound up in the family room again. I guess my pets have good taste, just like yours.
