Design Wall Monday--Aug 22, 2011

There's nothing on my design wall/floor/table today but cutting for a new project has been happening.  This is a new leader-ender to use while completing the piecing of the wedding quilt.  I have wanted to make a quilt from the book I got for Christmas, Scrap Basket Sensations by Kim Brackett, and remembered a bag of strips from a long ago swap with the online group I belonged to, Quiltbuddies.

I like so many quilts in this book and admire Kim's great brain for thinking up so many pretty ways to use 2.5 inch strips. These strips are 3 inches but that gives me an opportunity to trim them all to the same size.

Some stash fabric for the "leaves" of the flowers and scraps of creamy white for the flower centers and sashing.  I'm sure the hard part will be finding a border fabric but the hunt is always fun.  See more design walls on Judy's Patchwork Times.

My sewing sister Kerry got Kim's book recently too and can't wait to sink into one of the patterns. I looked through the pages to and found a lot of designs my 2.5 strips could find a home in. Look forward to seeing your progress. Sandi

This is going to be so pretty - I love your choice of fabric. Yellow is my favorite color. I may have to make one like this too! thanks for the inspiration!

This is one I'd marked to do ASAP - but that ASAP has morphed into weeks since I've marked it.
You're going to have a cheerful, sweet quilt with those fabric choices.
"Nana" is one of the blogs I follow, one of Kim's friends.

I love that pattern. It's amazing what you can do with tiny bits of fabric!

I really must invest in a few more books about scrap quilting. I love scrappy quilts and have a ton of fabric saved for just this purpose!

I love the patterns in that book and have my eye on a couple. Like what you've got picked out for that pattern. It will be fun to see it come together.

I just finished my leaders and enders and need to find a new one. I may have to follow your lead and see what I've got in the scraps.
