Friday night after work I stopped to buy Christmas lights--then spent a good hour or two finally putting all of the fall decor and my Grandma's dishes we used at Thanksgiving back into their boxes. I was closely supervised by Mini the cat, as usual. She wanted to be on the table, then the mantle, then on the highest spot on top of Grant's amplifiers where she could survey my every move. Apparently I passed quota as she eventually wandered off.
Saturday morning I did some paying transcribing work, then spent a couple hours working on the wedding quilt, stitching in the ditch alongside the larger squares. This was not in my original plan but it seemed the quilt wanted a bit more structure. I went to my hair appointment with DD Elaine and when I got home it was time to do some more holiday decorating.
Someone immediately did some quality testing of the Christmas throw on the back of the couch. I never got back to the wedding quilt until Sunday, but after several more hours during two sessions the grid stitching on this super Queen sized quilt was DONE.
Amazing how long it takes to quilt straight lines in two directions that are not supposed to be seen! The light at the end of the tunnel is getting a bit bigger. There is a bit more free motion quilting needed, a decision about whether to quilt in the border, and then the binding to attach. A finish this week appears to be in the cards! Annie, it sounds like your Bunco night was a blast!! What a lucky girl you are to have your dad checking on you! And I love your QC tester, too. :)
You have been a busy gal. I am always amazed at just how long it takes do get chores done . . . . my to do list is forever longer than the alloted time *s*
Nice work! Sometimes it seems faster to hand quilt something that large than machine quilt! So hard to get the quilt in the machine and keep the stitches hiddne! Nice getting the daily chore grind out of the way so you could sew! I avoided all cleaning this weekend so I will have to do some cleaning during the week!
Oh, I just want to snuggle with Mini on the adorable Christmas quilt :) Sounds like Bunco was an all around great night!
Indeed you are busy....I hope you get a chance to just relax and enjoy the season...I'm hoping same for me too.
So busy Annie, but at least you are making good progress on the quilt. Yes straight line in the ditch quilting does take forever.
Mini looks very content, she's a seasoned quilt tester now!
Very exciting that the light is at the end of the tunnel...hope it's not a train coming! LOL!
Sounds like the Bunco players had a great night - no wonder your dad was worried - lol! I admire you for your perseverance on quilting the big one, Annie! It's going to be fantastic!
Cheers!
Bunco is always fun - isn't it? You are making good progress on the wedding quilt. It is amazing how much time it takes to sew in a straight line. I love your quality tester- mine had to inspect my blocks this week. I think he approved - LOL!

Im always amazed by how long in the ditch takes too. Way to go on the almost finish Annie.
I love that Christmas quilt that Mini is "inspecting".
Quilting is one of those things that always takes significantly longer than I think. It's always wonderful to have it finished!
The quality testing looks quite intensive!
Looks like you've made some good progress on the wedding quilt. I love your holiday quilt (and quilt inspector)!
You are keeping busy - and entertained by your quilt police tester. And more wedding quilt quilting done- congrats!
I can see why Mini wanted to cuddle, your Christmas quilt is lovely. The Wedding quilt is looking fabulous. Hope you do manage to get it done this week.
