Can you read this sign? Regular gas at $4.37 at this downtown Chevron yesterday (probably the most expensive filling station in town).
27 years ago today Grant and I got married and soon started our honeymoon with a road trip. It was supposed to have been an airplane trip to get onto a 3-day cruise to Mexico, but we missed our plane because we went to the wrong airline hub. By the time we discovered our mistake, our good friend who drove us was off showing his son the planes landing and we couldn't find him. We raced to the furthest hub where we were supposed to be but were too late, the plane was gone. So instead we honeymooned in Carmel-by-the Sea and San Francisco. Good thing gas was only $1.25 a gallon or so then! I was driving the last leg on the way back home and was caught speeding on a two lane highway as I passed a couple of trucks that had a Highway Patrol unit hidden in between. Yep, the first time I ever signed my new married name was on a speeding ticket. Happy Anniversary, darling, you are a keeper. Here's to the next 27!

Congrats to you and your DH, Annie. What a way to start signing your new name. : )
Congratulations Annie and Grant!
Honeymoons don't always go as smoothly as the fairy tales would have you believe, do they? lol
I'm afraid to see what our gas is. I haven't driven anywhere since Sunday and I'm going to need to fill up tomorrow. It was $3.63 then; no telling how high it's gotten.
isn't it horrible almost as bad as fabric prices today!
Happy Anny! and here's to another 27!
Happy Anniversary! Sometimes I think the SNAFUs are more memorable than if things go smoothly. Speculators speculate and the oil executives order their new Lear jet.
What a memory for you both. Happy Day to both!
My dad used to always say "long miserable years" after mentioning how long he and my mom had been married - so it's sort of a family joke. Everyone in our family is well up in the double digits of "long miserable years" and can still laugh about it, as you are doing, so you've been doing something right all of these long, miserable years! Here's to many more and congratulations!
I've been married 20 more years, and when we were hitched, in 1964 gas was about 30 cents a gallon, sometimes as low as 20 cents! We thought it'd never reach $1.00, now it's racing to $5.00!
Happy Anniversary to you both, Annie! Our honeymoon plans didn't go as we had hoped, either, but aren't we glad it wasn't a sign of things to come? Enjoy your days ahead...maybe you'll go for a walk instead of buying gas!
:-}pokey
Wonderful memories - thank you for sharing, Annie.
Happy Anniversary!
Yowza, that's expensive. Today is gas sale day in town but I'm too lazy to shovel the drive during the wonderful storm we are having (last I checked it was $3.60 at this gas station but who knows with the overnight jumps). Gas was 99 cents when I started driving. Dad says he remebers 5 cents and having to decide between a gallon of gas or a loaf of bread.
Congrats on your anniversary!
Happy ANniversary! Hope your day was a specail one.
You share an anniversary with my parents. How cool is that !
Hope the day was wonderful. The price of petrol is actually bordering on criminal. I think we pay the equivalent of $5.05 a gallon here.
Hope you had a wonderful anniversary!
Gas is just ridiculous - I have been snapping pics, too. In the *snooty* town to the south, I found $4.35 and thought they were trying to 'keep the riff raff out' until I got home and found it was the same here *yikes*
