I had even sketched out an idea for a table runner. There wasn't enough fabric for the centers but I remembered a charm pack I picked up at the International Quilt Festival in Cinci a couple of years ago. But the CW squares are 4" so I need to add coping strips. As I've mentioned before, quilt MATH gets me all the time! My coping strips are too wide at 1". Well, at least I can cut them down :). See my last post for a blogaversary giveaway I'm having of a little CW scrappy quilt I finished over the weekend.
I also put away all the random spools of thread and bobbins hanging around and found five nearly bare ecru spools. I use these spool ends for hand stitching but sure don't need five of them! Wrapping all the leftovers on one spool freed up room in one thread box :)

And now, some baby spam:
I got to hold my 4 day old grandson Cove for a good hour yesterday and he was awake the whole time. Sweet baby! The new family is happy to be home from the hospital and creating their own routine :)

Isn't it fun to come across scraps that you can put together into something finished? I did that same thing last month. And congratulations to you! Cove is absolutely darling! What a very sweet blessing! :)
I am liking what I see you creating--and yes, be grateful that your coping strips were too big, rather than too small. I like to think that was the plan all along. Make it big and cut it down.
I save my nearly bare spools for hand stitching, too. I keep them in their own little basket, so when I need to sit and stitch, I grab that basket first. If I don't have the right colors, then I go to my full spools.
Sweet little babe. I hope they can get a routine, since not all babies want to oblige in that department. : )
Wow, that picture of Cove is wonderful!! What a cutie and I love the way his little fingers are resting by his sweet face.
He is one of the most adorable babies Ive ever seen ...and Ive seen a lot ! Enjoy those cuddles !
Sweet as can be. Spam away! :o)

Yippee!!
He is definitely adorable and I'm glad he was awake to visit with you!
Sorry, I pushed your quilty talk aside to get to the baby!!! ha!
This is starting to look like a very intereting tablerunner. Can't wait to see more.
What a sweet picture of Cove sleeping. So perfect ... and so much hair! You are truly blessed.
Thanks for sharing.

Great idea to use up your scraps!
The new addition to the family is a little sweetie. Hope you get to give him lots of cuddle time. They grow up so fast.
Congratulations :-) I don't think I've said that before, sorry. I've been reading blogs, not commenting much. He is a cutie pie :-)
Cute! Look at all that black hair. I'm guessing that is not from your side of the family? You're all fair! I'm surprised he was awake for an hour so early on in life. My niece Bridget is 5 weeks old now and she still struggles to keep her eyes open that long.
