Where have I been?

Overwhelmed with paying work!  Can't get my quilting mojo going at night since Monday.  Seems I always get stuck at this point, THE QUILTING.  It doesn't help that my most recent projects have included lots of problems with thread and needles breaking, and just plain unsewing being required.  Maybe I'll start off slow today with some nice easy cutting and sewing of binding for the Brown Bag Contest Quilt.  Yes, that sounds good!  Meanwhile, I still need to finish the backing, though I am getting close:

I think it is long enough--need to measure again--but I will add some panels of stash fabric to the sides to make up the width necessary.  A peruse through my stash dresser drawers revealed that I had an additional yard-plus of the black Dimples fabric I used for the sashing in the blocks, and could have used it for the inner border instead of the stripe which was intended originally for the binding.  Note to self: DON'T put away the fabric until the quilt is finished!

No need to apologize for deserting us...we all get overly busy and have recoop! Your backing will be a wonderful two sided quilt!

Well, there you are! Taking a few days away can be a very good thing.

Love your backing! Enjoy the week end.

I love pieced backs! This one is exceptional. :)

Very neat backing for your quilt! Isn't it so frustrating when you find a piece of fabric that you needed just as you are finishing the quilt :)

I've been in the same place this week Annie. Love that pieced back and here's hoping we both get some stuff done this weekend!

Sometimes the stars just aren't aligned so we can get the quilting time and progress that we want. Sounds like you've had just such a week.
I like pieced backs most of all. What's interesting about the entire back out of the same fabric? Yours is great. I hope the weekend is going OK for you.

I'm glad you put the fabric away, while I love stripe binding, the stripe in the border was perfect for the quilt.

I have actually put fabric away before I was finished, forgot about it and used it in another project.

Hope you've gotten some time to sew this weekend. Some weeks it's almost impossible to work and do anything else. Maybe next week will not be so hectic.
