International Quilt Festival--Cincinnati, Part 1

This year's International Quilt Festival held in Cincinnati was at the Duke Energy Center downtown.  It was a really large venue with plenty of helpful staff, restrooms, places to sit, eat, shop, wide hallways and large classrooms.  Note: All photos were taken at the International Quilt Festival.
Here we are under the "We're having a great time at the Festival" sign. Mom, me, and my sister Kathy.  We are grinning because the staffer taking the photo had us shuffling from side to side and was saying funny things.  (Nothing like being photographed to make you want to start a diet when you get home! Eesh.)

Last year's show had a wonderful antique quilt collection I used up most of my memory card storage photographing.  This year, it was the more modern quilts that caught my attention.  This is a digitally printed quilt that was just stunning and was the first photo I took of the day.

The quilting was exquisite.

The quilter won a third place award for this amazing quilt.

My mom asked me to take a photo of this one.  I liked it too--especially the purse going off the edge.

The quilter did a fantastic job of getting the proportions and figures just right.

This was a fairly large quilt and the effect was so peaceful.

The fabric choices and composition were striking.

This many-times-larger-than-life portrait was made entirely with yo-yos.

The yo-yos were probably 2.5-3.0 inches in diameter. It looked best from a distance of about 12-15 feet away and must have been a technical nightmare to assemble. Amazing!

Oops, this is a bit blurry!  I made it extra big--hope that helps.  There were a lot of great entries from all over the world in this exhibit and it was definitely a highlight of the show.  More pics to follow.

Wow - you look so much like your Mom!

The monk quilt is simply amazing. Even in the photo it looks peaceful!

There are some incredible quilts there. I cannto even imagine making a whole quilt from yo yos-let alone making them make a picture quilt!

Thanks for taking us to the quilt show with you!
