Therapy

I was feeling very tired and crappy yesterday when I got home after a stressful day at work followed by a futile shopping excursion to the mall.  All I wanted was a black sweater!  Grant went out and got us some hamburgers (lettuce wrapped--I'm still on the No Flour, No Sugar plan) and after dinner I went to my sewing machine for some fabric therapy.  Progress has been made on all three tablerunners I'm currently making from the On the Run pattern book by Heather Mulder Peterson.

After some stupid mistakes with Steam a Seam (didn't read the directions thoroughly!!) and a stained ironing board cover that had to be washed immediately, I got the applique flower petals attached along with the borders and ends on the Party Time runner.

I'll blanket stitch by machine with some rayon thread around each petal and the center.

Over the weekend the Sweet Escape runner was quilted and bound.

I copied Heather's quilting plan with a motif in the boxes and stippling around the edge.  I'm thinking that the bit of puffiness in the prints will disappear when washed since the charm squares will shrink some.

Two of the three rows of the Baby Boxes runner were completed as a leader-ender while sewing the remaining strip sets for the wedding quilt.

The last movie of Harry Potter opens tonight at midnight at many theaters here.  The "face" in this cut strip looked to me just like the Howler letter Ron Weasley got from his mother in The Chamber of Secrets movie after he and Harry flew the car to Hogwarts.  I loved all the books but I think The Prisoner of Azkhaban was my favorite movie.  It will be sad to see the end of the movies but they have been great fun.

Sorry you had such a rough day, but just looking at those runners don't you feel better now, and besides, you've slept since then so things MUST be better!!!

I can relate to your failed attempt to find a simple black sweater. I have been hunting for one for about a month. no luck yet! My boss LOVES AC and I do not.

Love the baby boxes. May pull out my precuts and give it a go!

Im a complete Harry Potter freak and will be quite sad to see the last movie. Those books have been pretty much single handedly responsible for introducing at least one later generation to read again.

My favourite runner of your three (!!!) is the first one. Gorgeous. Those flowers really add some kick!

Sorry you had a stressful day. I hate shopping when I cant find what I want. Plenty of black sweaters here at the moment....

Nice table runners from that book, each with a very different look.
Creepy, creepy cut on that fabric strip. My heart would have skipped a beat the first time I saw the face.
My favorite HP movie is also probably Prisoner of Azkhaban. Any movie with Gary Oldman will catch my attention, but I enjoyed the boggarts, Buckbeak, and that wild whipping tree.

Doesn't that always happen, when you are searching for a specific clothing item, you can never find it.
I love your table runners they are all really lovely. The first one is very pretty.
I loved reading the Harry Potter books when they first came out all those years ago, it will be sad to see the end of an era. At least I can read the books over and over again, oh and watch the DVD's over again too.

Well, if that wasn't a highly successful therapy session I would demand a new therapist! ;) You are on a roll too, Heather's got nuthin' on you!

Just popping by to say Hi & see what you're up to-as usual it all looks great. Especially that first one. That's so pretty.
Been having trouble getting out for my walks too-the humidity and heat are just too much. Next few days look better
