- Youngest daughter, Erica, has come into town for a few days of spring break from ASU. I haven't seen my car in almost 12 hours since she dropped me off at work this morning.
- Last night we had a belated birthday dinner for Erica--it was a spur of the moment decision to have it here and Erica requested a family favorite, Hamburger Soup, followed by strawberry shortcake for dessert. Yum!
- I'm not sure whether I like a new experience I've been having very recently--which I am calling Personal Weather Systems. HOT, cold, HOT, mostly at night. Any guesses?
- Traffic Rant: Bicycle riders who ignore every.single.caution. No helmet, riding against traffic, riding on the sidewalk, going through stop signs and even red lights. Please, people, bicycles are moving vehicles and are supposed to obey traffic laws, same as cars. Don't end up with your bike crushed beneath a pickup truck's front tire as I saw one rider last week (riding on the sidewalk against traffic!)
- We had a big storm, very cold and windy and rainy this past weekend, and the snow level dropped to about 3,000 feet. A lot of the snow had melted off the TopaTopa range by the time this pic was taken this morning but there was still some left:
But don't the telephone pole and mobile home park add so much to this view?

PWS mess with me lately--no fun, for sure!
I'll agree with you on the bike rant. I don't want them to get hurt, but I think it is often a miracle more of them aren't. How awful would it be to be the one to hit a careless biker and carry that with you--regardless of whether or not you could have done anything to prevent it.
I've often taken photos just like yours--you'd think the power lines would have the decency to lie down upon command so we could get a nice photo. The mobile home park? Crop it out. : )
Glad your daughter is in town, even if the only proof of it is a missing car, lol.
Janet had a good idea on pop-up phone lines, didn't she? I like the view, it's normal for our populated part of the country....
I do not like the "power surges" either, they are not too bad in the cooler weather, but man in the summer they are a killer!
BTW< I like your blog background change, fun!
:-}pokey
Ranting about bicyclists is a very close second to my rant on tourists. Single file, people, single file!
Oh I just love your acronym - PWS!!! Very original, Annie! Try switching to Soy Milk - it sure helped me in those days (which seemed to have dragged on now for many, many years!)
Cheers!
Enjoy time with your daughter. And I'm with you 100% with that biker rant. Most I've had the pleasure, not, of sharing the road with, would seem to not know a thing about rules of the road...I'm all for licensing every single one of them and ticketing them for non-compliance! A friend at church, who is from the south refers to those as her own personal private summers. :)
I could do a biker rant of my own :) When the nicer weather comes, people get on their bikes and ride like lunatics! I'm just so thankful I haven't hit one yet!
I find hanging one foot outside of the bedsheets shortens the HOTS!
With you on the bicyclists!
Blogger ate my comment and it was brilliant !
OK here goes (Take two )
Hamburger soup sounds very interesting ...
Im not at the PWS stage yet but I have all the pre-symptoms . Im hoping to avoid the hot , cold , hot stuff....
Hamburger soup?
Hope you get to see a little bit of Erica (and your car) while she's in town!
PWS sucks.
Ha Shay, I'd like to see how you are going to avoid it!
I can sympathize with your personal "weather" systems... no fun. I have had good results with OTC herbal supplements.
I'm drooling just thinking about strawberry shortcake.
I love having a view of mountains... the foreground, nah, not so much.
When I fought my own PWS battle, I also did well with herbal -- black cohosh in particular. Available in several formulations, as I remember.
I had no sympathy from the other occupant of the house. Hopefully Grant will be understanding if you're fanning yourself during a meal or position a fan to hit you full force while he's wearing a long-sleeved shirt.
I've forgotten to ask--what am I seeing in your header photo? I just can't figure it out. Patio furniture standing in sea water? That's all that comes to mind.
Person Weather Systems! What a laugh! I've been dealing with that for a couple years now too. Our house is freezing (literally) at night, but there I am stripped down to nothing. In the morning my husband wakes me up by saying "Are you all right? I'm afraid you'll pass on from exposure to the elements while you sleep."
Hi there, I have enjoyed reading your blog from the beginning. I must say I totally cracked up about the bicycle rider rant. Especially the one line, and I must quote you exactly, "Don't end up with your bike crushed beneath a pickup truck's front tire as I saw one rider last week (riding on the sidewalk against traffic!)" I had a picture of the pick-up going down the sidewalk as well. We don't have many sidewalks here in the mountains but now I have a pretty good idea why you rant about traffic with bicycles and pick-up trucks all going the wrong way on the sidewalk. You made my morning, dear lady, Sue
