You can see the E O initials better since I added a lot more of the cream background. Boy, figuring out the size and cutting and sewing of all those sections took a lot of time! And it's bigger than ever. It is laying across our king sized bed. I'm a little anxious about quilting this beast on my own. Gulp.
Yeah, I'm missing some fabric right there. So, darn it, gotta go to the fabric store. Poor me!
There was a great deal of sewing happening here over the weekend. I also finished all the 9 patches for Julie's swap--that's 78 of them.
Then I had a little play time with the leftovers:
No idea what'll become of this but it was fun to see the fabrics all together. I just cut 1.5" strips from the 2.5" strip set leftovers. I may make a little doll quilt out of it somehow. I have some young nieces who might like one. Go to Judy's blog to see the rest of the Design Walls. Happy Monday!

playing with leftovers can be such fun
that is sure going to be a pretty backing, I love it when both sides of a quilt look nice.
Really nice work! I totally get the anxiety over quilting once you are done piecing. My quilts wait a long time for me to make up my mind. By the way, I will try the 3 step zig-zag on my next baby quilt binding. Thanks for the tip! Karmen
I love pieced backs! You are braver than I am to machine quilt a quilt that large, I've done one queen size and swore never again. Your scraps look like they would make a nice table topper.
Love the design bed. :-)
Wonderful nine patches - woohoo!!!! Feels good to have them finished, doesn't it?
I love what you did with your leftovers. :-)
Major progress all over the place. Great work, but looks more like great fun.
That's a lot of 9-patches.
I've quilted several queen and a couple king-sized quilts on my machine, but I do them in halves and then join the sections together. Large quilts are a definite challenge.
Love the pieced back and the E and O are great! Something about 9-patches that are so simple but always a favorite.
I use my bed for a "design wall" sometimes too.
I am so glad I am not the only one struggling with backings. Love yours! That's why I keep any kid quilts just under 40" wide so I can use one fabric :-)
Happy playing w/ leftovers and quilting!
Gosh you can see her initals - totally!!! How cool is that? Amazing work Annie. Absolutely amazing. Impressive. I'm thrilled.
The quilt back is great, very clever! You're enjoying the process... even to the point where you need to go shopping... I feel your pain.
I'm thinking that the leftovers would make a very nice runner...
